Description from the seller
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Abbaye de Morgeot - Cuvée Duchesse de MAGENTA - aging under Louis Jadot 2004
The Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru "Abbaye de Morgeot" (Cuvée Duchesse de Magenta) 2004 is an exceptional dry white wine from Burgundy, from Domaine du Duc de Magenta (managed by the Louis Jadot house for winemaking or marketed under this historic name associated with the Cistercian site of Morgeot)
Vintage 2004 in Burgundy: A classic, fresh and balanced year, which today offers white wines that have reached a beautiful tertiary complexity (aromas of dried fruits, honey, undergrowth or toasted bread while retaining a mineral texture)
About the vintage
Located in the heart of the Burgundian climate of Morgeot, the tutelary abbey now in ruins is surrounded by vineyards from which this beautiful Chardonnay typical of the appellation comes. The Louis Jadot house has just under half a hectare on this rich terroir, composed mainly of marl and clay.
Its bright color, with deep gold reflections, is adorned with light green shades when this wine is young. On the nose, fresh and floral notes (hawthorn, honeysuckle and acacia) surround a mineral base (silex) enriched with verbena and fresh hazelnut. Raised 15 months on fine lees after malolactic fermentation, buttery notes round off the whole. With age, this wine gains in complexity with flavors of honey and ripe pear. Opulent and generous after a lively attack, the persistent fat of this wine brings it roundness and nobility.
Great aging wine; you will have to forget it for a long time in the cellar to fully enjoy it.
