Description from the seller

Rare Carving/ Game Set in 950 Silver – Risler & Carré (Paris)

Description:
Refined and imposing antique carving set for meat and game, made by the prestigious Parisian jewelry house Risler & Carré (active in Paris from the late 19th to the early 20th century).

The set consists of two large pieces:
• Large carving knife with a shaped steel blade (length 30 cm)
• 4-tine serving fork with a dramatic swiveling guard/support mechanism in relief, figure-cast. (Length 26 cm)

Characteristics and Hallmarks:
• Handles: Solid silver worked in neoclassical / Louis XVI style, finely relief-decorated with festoons, botanical garlands, raised motifs and a central cartouche.
• Hallmarks: The silver rims clearly show the French hallmark Minerva Head 1st Title (950/1000 silver) and the diamond-shaped master silversmith mark Risler & Carré.
• Condition: Good overall preserved state.
Total weight: 226 grams

The silver retains a splendid aged patina with sharp chasing; the steel parts show light, natural signs of time consistent with the piece’s age and authenticity.
