Description from the seller
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops a body of work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to store-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superimpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Masterpieces Reimagined
Since 2022, David Law has been developing a new corpus of works based on artistic photomosaic and contemporary digital composition. Each creation is crafted from a multitude of microvisual fragments generated with current graphic tools, then carefully selected, structured and recomposed by the artist. This series revisits some of the most famous paintings in the history of art through a contemporary visual approach. The aim of this series is to create a dialogue between artistic heritage and contemporary visual culture. This approach allows a renewed vision of the painting, positioned at the boundary between artistic homage and contemporary interpretation.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist’s proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with an integrated back mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with soft UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary rendering.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law has participated in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Parallel to his visual activity, he develops work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer and guitarist, he currently performs with the group FRENZY.
