Description from the seller
Pearl Earring - 02 (n.760) - Dolls series
The dimensions are:
- collage: 50.00 cm x 40.00 cm
Acrylic painting on shredded paper on canvas
I create paintings using acrylic colors and thousands of small pieces of recycled paper: everyday paper is transformed into art instead of ending up in the garbage.

This work represents a conceptual evolution of the artistic project "Not your doll," a series born to explore and denounce the objectification of women and gender violence.
Through a meticulous mosaic made entirely with fragments of recovered everyday paper reused to create art, the icons of art history are decomposed and reassembled.
Iconic figures, images of women observed and idealized, are here stripped of their aura of passive perfection.
Historically, the figure of the woman in art has often been reduced to a silent muse, a "doll" of aesthetic perfection shaped to please the gaze of others.
With these works they stop being the Renaissance "dolls" to be admired and become living figures, literally reconstructed with fragments of everyday reality, of news and everyday words.
No longer objects of others’ gaze, but fragmented and powerful presences that invite the viewer to look beyond the surface of aesthetics.
A piece with a strong visual and social impact, ideal for a contemporary collection attentive to themes related to the role and image of women in society.

Each piece is securely packaged, wrapped and protected for shipping and will arrive in a completely secure package, including the Certificate of Authenticity.
I use the courier provided directly by Catawiki.
A few days of delay may be caused by customs clearance at borders.
Shipping takes about 7 days; about 10 days for non-EU countries.

Different light sources can give different colors to the photos.
In the case of works I frame directly, the dimensions may vary slightly as I personally prepare the wooden frame, stretch the canvas and mount it on the frame.

Born in 1974 I am self-teducated.
After an initial period devoted to sculpture there was a long stop of almost twenty years. Since December 2014 I returned to the "two dimensions" for reasons of time and space, neglecting sculpture and dedicating myself to acrylic paintings.
I love painting abstract landscapes but recently I have been pushing myself to paint faces of people both imaginary and real.
For me painting is "freezing time" at that exact moment; a painting of mine is often a faded memory and thus my works are "worn, eroded by time." Sometimes my paintings depict glimpses of walls, also eroded by time, with moss and fungi that — over time — grow on the surface.
Time that passes inexorably is the main theme of my works.
Coming from a wonderful experience with clay manipulation, I love sculpture, the third dimension, the sense of touch and my paintings are often characterized by reliefs clearly perceivable by touch as well as to the eye.
In this recent period, after several years in which my works were made from bits of recycled paper forming figures, I am pushing myself to explore Optical Art where I use painted wood discs arranged in lines and grids repeated with mathematical rigor that, when viewed up close, seem to form a colorful abstract painting but from a distance a portrait of many discs of painted wood emerges.
Violence against women is a theme that characterizes almost all of my works when I reproduce female faces, precisely to give them a voice when they do not have the strength or courage to report that they are not the dolls of their partners and cannot be mistreated or, worse, victims of violence.
