Unisex late 19th‑century Islamic brass octagonal Bazuband talisman from Türkiye, dated 1850–1900, 100 g, 8 × 6 cm, hand‑engraved with the central Bazuband Magic Square (wafq) and surrounding Qur’anic verses and talismanic inscriptions in aged brass.
Description from the seller
Rare Late 19th Century Islamic Brass Octagonal Bazuband Talisman with Magic Square (Wafq)
A finely engraved brass octagonal bazuband (arm amulet) dating from the late 19th century.
The central field is occupied by a carefully arranged numerical magic square (wafq), surrounded by dense Arabic inscriptions containing protective Qur’anic verses, divine names and talismanic formulae. The entire surface is hand-engraved in traditional Islamic style, showing the characteristic warm golden patina of aged brass.
Such octagonal bazubands were traditionally worn on the upper arm or kept close to the body for protection against the evil eye, misfortune and negative forces. The combination of a numerical square with surrounding sacred texts is a classic feature of late Qajar and late Ottoman talismanic metalwork.
A scarce and authentic example of late 19th-century Islamic protective metalwork, appealing to collectors of Islamic amulets, talismans and esoteric art.
Dimensions: 8cm*6cm
