Description from the seller

RING — From Jewellery to Sculpture

This series originates from a collection of ring designs created for the world of fashion. Originally conceived as pieces for the body and connected to the runway, these forms are translated here into the language of sculpture.

Through a change of scale, the ring ceases to be merely an ornamental object. Its structure expands, the central void acquires presence, and the metal reveals an architecture of its own. What could once encircle a finger becomes an autonomous construction.

Made from welded iron and individually worked by hand, the sculptures deliberately retain traces of their making: welds, irregularities, abrasions and variations in the surface become part of their character.

RING explores the territory between jewellery, fashion, design and sculpture: the body disappears, but its memory remains.

RING II

In RING II, the circular form of the ring supports a more open and horizontal upper structure, transforming the original design into a composition with a distinctly sculptural and architectural character.

The surface retains the traces of its construction process: accumulations of weld, irregularities and textures run across the iron, contrasting with the polished upper areas, where the metal takes on warmer tones and reflections that change with the incidence of light.

The work offers very different readings depending on the viewpoint. From the front, the memory of the ring remains recognisable; from the sides, the structure becomes increasingly abstract; and from above, the piece reveals an unexpected open geometry, almost like a small architecture or a metallic landscape.

The void once again becomes an essential part of the composition: it is not simply the space contained within the ring, but the space around which the entire work is constructed.

A piece born as a design for the body which, through a change of scale, is released from its original function and acquires an existence of its own.

Unique piece. Handmade and individually finished by Corné Nuham.

The artwork will be carefully packed and protected to ensure it arrives in perfect condition.

It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
