Tavannes Watch Co antique hand-wound pocket watch, period 1914–1915, with a solid silver case (800 silver), reference 320325, in very good condition with light wear and in working order.
Description from the seller
Offered: a beautiful, 100% authentic and well-working antique mechanical pocket watch from the prestigious Swiss manufacturer Tavannes Watch Co.
This specific specimen can be dated exactly to 1914 or 1915. This is traceable in part thanks to the Diplôme d'Honneur medal won at the Bern (1914) exhibition, which is depicted on the dust cover.
Both the solid silver case, the inner lids, and the high-quality movement are fully original and marked by Tavannes (matching numbers). This makes it a splendid, historically reliable and functional collectible.
Specifications and details:
• Movement: Very clean, original mechanical Tavannes movement with anchor escapement (Ancre de Précision) and ruby bearings. The watch winds smoothly and runs neatly and immediately. Equipped with a fine adjustment (F/S - A/R) on the balance.
• Dial: Immaculate white enamel open-face dial with dual time indication. Classic Roman numerals with a distinctive red 'XII'. Along the outer edge is the 24-hour track (13 to 24), designed at the time for railway personnel and military. Very elegant Louis XV-style hands and a decentralised seconds hand at the 6 o’clock position.
• Case material: Solid 800 silver. The inside of the case back is officially double-registered with the Swiss coq stamp and the German Moon and Crown (produced for export to the German market).
• Case number: 320325.
• Exterior: Featuring a beautiful geometric guilloché pattern with a still entirely blank engraved cartouche. There have never been initials or family crests engraved.
• Dust cover (Cuvette): Magnificently decorated with the original medals won at World Exhibitions (including Brussels 1910 and Bern 1914).
• Condition: The watch is in superb original condition with a beautiful, characteristic antique patina on the silver case. The crystal and the dial have been exceptionally well preserved. See the photos for an exact impression of the clean movement and the silver stamps.
