BIOGRAPHY OF ALBERTO GISBERT SIURANA
He was born in Castellar-Oliveral (Valencia) on September 19, 1923. He was a pupil of the painter José Marced Furió.
He studied at the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes de San Carlos in Valencia, from 1940 to 1944.
After leaving the Escuela Superior de Bellas Artes, he spent several years making reproductions of the masterpieces by Velázquez, Goya, Rubens and Murillo, among others.
He also spent several years combining reproductions with painting on ceramics and painting movie theater posters.
He has carried out several restorations on religious themes in the side domes of the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Lepanto in Castellar (Valencia), as well as the creation of two murals of six square meters on the sides of the Main Altar of the same parish, and also a reproduction in the Tabernacle of the Main Altar of El Salvador by Juan de Juanes, and an icon of the Virgin of Perpetual Help on a lateral altar.
In the church of San Martín de Porres in El Oliveral (Valencia), he has created a twelve-square-meter mural on a religious theme of Jesus and his apostles, for the Communion Chapel, and also a six-square-meter painting of the Virgin of the Rosary located on the right wing of the church.
Additionally, Alberto Gisbert has carried out numerous exhibitions of his works in prestigious art galleries in Valencia and Madrid, among others.
He balanced his painting with a job retouching photographs in charcoal in his own studio. Due to vision and back problems associated with this work, he was forced to retire from this profession, but he never abandoned painting, his true vocation. Not for nothing did Alberto Gisbert demonstrate his passion for painting up to the very moment of his disappearance at the age of 86, on July 12, 2009, when a still-life remained unfinished in his studio.
