Description from the seller
Kloster Eberbach represents more than 850 years of winemaking tradition. The historic monastery's monks recognized early on that the climatic conditions of the Rheingau region were ideal for producing exceptional wines from locally grown grapes.
Through its "Domäne Bergstraße", Kloster Eberbach operates on about 30ha in Germany's smallest wine-growing area, Hessische Bergstraße.
Situated at an altitude of up to 190 metres, the south-facing Schönberger Herrnwingert vineyard is surrounded by woodland and features slopes with gradients of around 20%. The vineyard covers a total area of 11 hectares.
The Herrnwingert benefits from abundant sunshine and cooling winds above the Rhine Rift Valley. Its soils consist predominantly of loam, with some sandy areas that warm up quickly.
A mature Trockenbeerenauslese with concentrated notes of dried apricot, orange marmalade and acacia honey. Rich and velvety on the palate, with hints of saffron and candied citrus, balanced by gentle acidity and a long, mellow finish.
Estate bottled and shipped by Kloster Eberbach. Excellent condition of bottle, label, cork and capsule.
