Thailand pressing of Black Sabbath Vol. 4 (BS 2602) with a non-gatefold sleeve; the vinyl is VG and the sleeve VG+, released in 1972.
Description from the seller
Very unusual and difficult-to-find Thailand pressing of Black Sabbath's Vol. 4, issued under catalogue number BS 2602. While the familiar international editions of Vol. 4 are generally encountered in elaborate gatefold packaging, this Thai edition is immediately distinctive because it was issued in a regular non-gatefold sleeve, giving the album a completely different presentation from the standard UK and US versions. The record itself is equally distinctive, with its unusual gold-toned labels carrying the title "BLACK SABBATH – VOL. 4", catalogue number BS. 2602, stereo designation and locally styled typography. These visual differences make the pressing particularly interesting for collectors of unusual international Black Sabbath editions. Vol. 4 is one of the cornerstone albums of Black Sabbath's classic Ozzy Osbourne period, containing some of the group's most celebrated recordings, including "Wheels of Confusion," "Tomorrow's Dream," "Changes," "Supernaut," "Snowblind," "Cornucopia" and "Under the Sun." For the serious worldwide Black Sabbath collector, pressings from countries such as Thailand offer a completely different collecting field from the much more frequently encountered British, European and North American editions.
⸻
Sleeve (VG+):
The scarce non-gatefold sleeve remains a solid example. Visible ringwear and corner wear are present, together with general age-related handling wear. We would place it towards the lower end of VG+, but it remains structurally sound and presents well considering the age and unusual origin of the pressing.
Vinyl ; Audio VG+/Visual VG
The vinyl has clearly seen considerable previous play and shows a grey sheen across the grooves, together with numerous superficial marks and hairlines. The visible marks are predominantly surface-level and not feelable. Despite the visual wear, the record plays well overall, making it a much better listening copy than its visual appearance might initially suggest.
