Italian school (XVIII) - Cristo che porta la croce

Oil painting on canvas stretched onto a solid wooden panel in the Italian School tradition (the artist presumably Neapolitan, stylistically close to the circle of Francesco Solimena), datable to the first half of the 18th century.

The work depicts a scene from the Passion, namely Christ carrying the cross while being scourged by the soldiers.

The condition of the piece, as clearly visible in the photo, makes a restoration to reintroduce the color necessary, due to losses caused by cracking and the passage of time; otherwise the solid wooden panel on which the canvas is mounted appears intact and free of evident defects.

The overall dimensions (including the frame) are about 50 x 55 cm.
