With Narcissus, Lou Ma Ho revisits the myth through a minimalist silhouette, entirely coated with chrome paint. Its reflective surface has neither true color nor own identity. It borrows its appearance from everything around it.
The spectator who approaches discovers their own reflection, distorted by the sculpture's curves. They thereby become, despite themselves, a part of the work. But what are they really looking at? the statue or themselves?
In a society where everyone cultivates their image and multiplies it infinitely, Narcissus questions our growing need to be seen, admired, recognized.
