AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Kloster Eberbach represents more than 850 years of winemaking tradition. The historic monastery's monks recognized early on that the climatic conditions of the Rheingau region were ideal for producing exceptional wines from locally grown grapes.

The former top vineyard site Rüdesheimer Bronnen now forms the heart of the VDP.GROSSE LAGE Berg Rottland. Beginning on the western outskirts of Rüdesheim, the vineyard enjoys an ideal south-facing exposure and a slope gradient of 33%. Its soils consist of grey slate, quartzite and gravel, covered by a thin layer of loess.

The 1966 vintage in the Rheingau benefited from excellent late-summer weather, allowing the grapes to achieve very good ripeness and producing wines of notable quality. A successful vintage for Riesling, especially considering the disappointing previous vintage in 1965.

The wine itself is a deeply mature Riesling with notes of dried quince, orange marmalade, beeswax and a touch of tobacco. Mellow sweetness, softened acidity, hints of black tea. A delicate, slightly savoury finish.

Estate bottled and shipped by Kloster Eberbach. Excellent condition of bottle, label, cork and capsule.
