Description from the seller
CCCP – Sputnik-1 Special Edition – Automatic – Men’s Wristwatch
For sale is an exceptional CCCP Special Edition automatic watch, model CP-7021, with a design that nods to the history of Soviet spaceflight.
The watch combines a classic stainless steel case with an elaborately styled champagne-colored dial. Particularly striking are the fine vertical lines, the applied Arabic numerals, and the four stars below the CCCP inscription. The brown leather strap with crocodile pattern underscores the elegant vintage look.
A special highlight is the display case back with red-tinted glass, through which parts of the mechanical automatic movement can be seen.
Background story – Sputnik and Soviet spaceflight
On October 4, 1957, the Soviet Union made history with the launch of Sputnik 1. The first artificial Earth satellite reached Earth orbit and ushered in the era of space exploration.
The CCCP watch collection picks up this historical era in design. The Cyrillic inscription Sputnik-1 on the case back explicitly references this milestone.
The designation CCCP corresponds to the Cyrillic initials of the former Soviet Union (USSR). The watch is a modern homage to this history and not an original wristwatch from the Soviet era.
