AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

I present to you this magnificent lot of saxophone and clarinet.

It is a King alto saxophone model 613, considered in the U.S. a mid-range (semi-professional) instrument in the 1960s, starting in the late 1950s to make its way into schools there, and finally discontinued to give way to the 660 models from the 1990s onward.

Personally, as an amateur in jazz and having owned a 613 from the 1990s (one of the later ones with reinforced lower notes), I prefer the 60s one (this) for its timbre and sustain; although it sounds brighter for modern music, it's easier to make sound softer.

New pads have been installed and it has been adjusted to perfection as I always do.

In addition to replacing a spring such as the one for the C# (low C#), a dent under the elbow has also been removed, resulting in the final aesthetic of several tiny nicks (not a single dent—see photos).

Well, apart from that, the sax is very handsome and, aside from being original (except for the case), it sounds like you probably haven’t touched one as enveloping or well-tuned.

And to complete this American-made lot, I took the bright idea of adding a clarinet from its era—the great Selmer American (Bundy model). Although it doesn’t bear the brand name because it was among the first, and about ten thousand were produced, Bundy is known by the rounded key touches (Signet, CL-300 model by Selmer with ergonomic diamond-point touches) which distinguishes it, with a stylized 67mm barrel in addition to the G# key (middle G#).

This Bundy Selmer has been serviced and sounds perfect as I always say, and you can hear it.

The bell only has a tiny dent (see photos).

I’m including an old mouthpiece that has teeth marks but has not been altered and is fully playable.

I’ll ship the saxophone in a Yamaha case that’s a bit worn (see photos), but with a proper latch, and the clarinet in an American Selmer case that could very well be the original.

A lot to enjoy if you’re a professional or to learn with precision. Take advantage now of this iconic auction and get a lot that will always have value, just like everything on display. Good luck.
