Description from the seller
This original artwork by Bart Hamelink, titled Busy Life 11, is a colorful and expressive depiction of the chaos, energy, and versatility of daily life.
The striking light-blue background forms a strong contrast with the playful white lines. A collection of unusual figures, odd faces, animals and recognizable symbols fills the elongated composition. Large eyes, quirky shapes and exaggerated facial expressions create a lively and humorous whole.
Among the figures you can discover airplanes, suns and small characters. The different elements intertwine, creating a world in which everyone seems to tell their own story, yet is connected to the others at the same time.
Busy Life 11 symbolizes the busyness of modern existence. People, thoughts, emotions and events continually cross each other’s paths. At times everything seems chaotic, but it is precisely within that chaos that special connections and unexpected moments arise.
The spontaneous, almost childlike drawing style and the deliberately imperfect forms give the painting the recognizable artistic look of Hamelink. The combination of intense blue and white lines creates a fresh, modern and powerful composition.
Busy Life 11 is a work of art full of movement, humor and imagination. The many small details invite you to keep discovering something new.
The painting is created with acrylic on canvas and is a unique, original artwork, not a reproduction or print. The work is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Note: The interior photos are purely atmospheric impressions and show how the artwork can come into its own in a modern interior. Colors may differ slightly from the original due to lighting and photography.
Due to its size, the painting will be carefully rolled and safely packed in a sturdy, square shipping tube to ensure it remains well protected during international transport.
The artwork is delivered without the pictured frame and without a wooden stretcher frame.
Seller's Story
Hamelink combines contemporary themes with influences from the past and often works in an energetic, expressive style. He draws inspiration from the tradition of artists such as Herman Brood, who was known for his raw, spontaneous approach, as well as Riek van Iersel, who sought a powerful emotional expression in his work.
Hamelink is best known for his paintings and drawings, in which he pushes the boundaries of traditional painting and tackles themes such as identity, culture and social issues. His work can be characterised by a direct, unpolished approach to the medium, which exudes a certain spontaneity and energy. Like Brood and Van Iersel, Hamelink plays with the tension between personal experience and the broader social context, often with a focus on contemporary society.
His style is often raw, unfiltered and full of expression, using powerful colours and dynamic shapes that enhance the urgency of his themes. Bart Hamelink seems to bridge the gap between traditional expressive movements and contemporary art with his work, while at the same time critically reflecting on modern times.
