Le Hublot et le Chien - Hand-signed, a 40 × 60 cm giclée on canvas with mixed media, edition of 20, created in 2023 in France.
Description from the seller
In the dimness of a metal cabin, a young boy in a white spacesuit sits facing a large round porthole. Behind the glass, the sky is black and studded with stars. He gazes into the distance, chin raised, hands resting on his knees, as if waiting for the road to finally open. On the nearby bench, a small white dog, also in a suit, sits upright. Ears laid back, eyes wide open, he fixes the front of the cabin, as if already sensing what awaits.
The painting draws on the imagery of journeys to the Moon, from Jules Verne to Méliès, while keeping the gaze of conquest: the dreamer who wants to depart and the one who isn’t sure they want to follow. The dream is at the center of the canvas, but it comes with worry. The porthole, the cold light, and the metal seats turn the cabin into a place between departure and waiting.
A canvas about the desire to reach a goal, and about the courage required by those who stay beside it.
