DESCRIPTION:
A free, poetic, and deeply lively presence.
At the boundary between painting, drawing and plastic writing, this painting testifies to a profoundly personal language of Ralf Altrieth: an art of bringing forth, from a few lines and a few shapes, worlds that seem to have their own rules.
Between free figuration, instinctive drawing and graphic poetry, the work does not tell a specific story. It instead suggests situations, characters and relationships that each viewer is free to interpret. The gaze thus moves from one form to another, gradually discovering a universe that seems both familiar and surprising.
This painting has a presence in space: it draws the eye with its drawing and contrasts, then holds the viewer’s attention with details and the unexpected associations that appear little by little. It brings a touch of freedom and poetry to an interior, never reducing itself to a mere decorative effect.
CRITIQUE:
"There is a lot of poetry in this painting, as in all of this artist’s works. They are populated with narrative codes and fantastic tales. In this sense, the pictorial poems of Ralf Altrieth are a pure childish chant... But the most astonishing thing manifested in these paintings is a communicative tenderness for the states of mind of human beings."
— Dr. Friedhelm Häring, museum director and art historian
"His writing through gesture and color describes a world open to new voices and to experiences never attempted. His canvases and works on paper demonstrate that painting remains a major expression of the contemporary scene."
— Laurent Puech, art historian and curator
BIOGRAPHY:
Ralf Altrieth (Heilbronn, 1966) is a Franco-German painter and musician recognized for his expressive, spontaneous universe, at the boundary of figuration and abstraction. Trained in his teens with painter Georg Schaible and then at the University of Fine Arts Nürtingen in the late 1980s, his work is distinguished by a rare pictorial energy and a particularly sensitive language. His works are now in multiple private collections worldwide.
SHIPPING:
The work will be shipped rolled in a solid tube to ensure secure transport. It is entrusted to an express carrier offering home delivery, with full tracking and signature on delivery, in order to guarantee the best protection of the work until it is handed over to the recipient.
