For sale is a very decorative Art Deco sculpture from the period around the 1920s/1930s. It depicts an athletically built, antique-looking athlete in an exceedingly dynamic pose. Particularly striking are the helmet with a high crest as well as the worked-out body posture and musculature.
The figure stands on an original, two-tier black-mottled marble base, which gives the sculpture a very high-quality and representative effect.

* Era: Art Deco, presumably 1920s/30s
* Motif: athletic athlete / antique-inspired sports depiction
* Material: metal cast, presumably zinc cast / Régule (spelter) with bronze-colored patina
* Weight of figure: approx. 1,356 g without base
* Base: two-tier, black-mottled marble base
* Marking: underside with the raised number “20”
* Signature: no recognizable artist or foundry signature
* Condition: age-appropriate very beautiful, authentic condition with attractive dark patina. In some, concealed areas wear reveals the silvery-gray underlying metal of the casting.
The material indication is deliberately given as presumably zinc cast / Régule, because the wear test shows a silvery-gray metal underlayer. A massive bronze version cannot be confirmed.
