Description from the seller

Pair of Vieux Paris porcelain vases – hand-painted landscapes – France – c. 1825–1845

Beautiful set of antique Vieux Paris (Paris porcelain) vases from the first half of the 19th century.

The vases are made of fine white hard porcelain and hand-painted with idyllic landscapes featuring rural buildings, trees and hills. The warm ochre, greens and grays form a characteristic decoration typical of French Paris porcelain from the Restoration period.

The elegant, slightly flaring form rests on a round footring. The top was originally provided with a gilded edge, the gilding having largely worn away over the years, appropriate to the age.

Both vases are further in excellent condition. There are no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restorations. The paintings are fresh and well preserved.
