This acrylic on canvas work is a vibrant semi-abstract composition that interprets a nautical scene with a markedly geometric and faceted aesthetic, reminiscent of stained glass or Cubism. Six sailing ships, of different sizes to suggest depth, dominate the mid-ground, with their sails fragmented into blocks of bold, sharply defined color. The color palette is intense and saturated, featuring oranges, magentas and warm purples in the background grid that evokes a sunset, contrasting with the cool blues and cyans of the water and the vertical, mirror-like reflections that imitate the shape of the sails. The texture of the acrylic paint is evident, applied with direct brushstrokes and layers that add visual richness to every color segment. The bold use of black lines to define forms and the rhythm created by the masts and the mosaic-like background give the piece a dynamic energy and a unique graphic sophistication.
