Pair of Art Nouveau Murano glass oil cruets, model Aves, 17 cm high, 12 cm wide and 12 cm deep, one in colorless crystal with amber-toned applications and the other in aquamarine green, each with a stopper crowned by a small crystal bird, made in Italy and in very good condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
Exceptional pair of decorative oil cruets made in hand-blown Murano crystal, inspired by the organic, sinuous forms of Modernism from the early twentieth century. These delicate pieces stand out for the technical mastery of their execution and for the refined decorative language that evokes the natural world so characteristic of Art Nouveau.
Each cruet features a body with an elegant, slightly flared profile, enriched by undulating glass applications that run across the surface like fluid garlands. The handles and pouring spouts integrate harmoniously into the composition through curved, dynamic lines, creating a set of great visual lightness and notable sculptural value. The blown crystal work reveals the skill of Murano artisans in shaping complex forms while maintaining an extraordinary sense of transparency and movement.
One of the pieces combines colorless crystal with amber-gold applications, while the other presents an attractive aquamarine green tone that highlights the richness of its volumes and reflections. Both pieces are topped with original stoppers crowned with small bird figures made in crystal, a delicate ornamental detail that reinforces the naturalistic inspiration inherent to the modernist aesthetic.
Beyond their original function, these cruets are authentic collector’s items, capable of standing out in cabinets, sideboards, or decorative tables. The quality of the glass, the complexity of the relief applications, and the rich color make this set an excellent example of Murano glassmaking tradition and of the artistic sensibility that characterized the decorative arts of the early twentieth century.
They are preserved in very good condition, maintaining the transparency, brilliance, and color richness of their crystal, as well as the integrity of the delicate applied elements and the ornamental stoppers. A charming pair that combines craftsmanship, elegance, and the unmistakable charm of Italian artistic glass.
