Description from the seller
Jack Gage — Passion in Red and White
Jack Gage, born in 1946, is an American artist whose pictorial universe is characterized by a stylised representation of the human figure and by the use of repetitive geometric motifs. His work combines contemporary figuration, strong contrasts and immediately recognizable graphic compositions.
In this work entitled Passion in Red and White, the artist depicts two embracing figures whose bodies are covered with a red-and-white chequered pattern. The woman, her hair gathered into a bun, leans toward the seated man, who lifts his face toward her. Their gestures and gazes compose an intimate scene, where the proximity of the bodies contrasts with the rigour of the geometric pattern.
The deep black background highlights the silhouettes and reinforces the intensity of the red and the brightness of the white. The chequered pattern follows the contours of the figures, emphasising their volumes and giving the composition a strong graphic identity.
The setting allows us to appreciate the decorative impact of this canvas in a contemporary interior. Its large format of 120 × 90 cm, its black background and its red-and-white contrasts make it a visually striking piece, particularly suited to a modern space where it can become a true focal point.
