Description from the seller
**BEHIND THE SURFACE**
A face suspended between identity and emotion, where the gaze becomes a threshold toward interiority. The shades of natural pigments, the drips and graphic marks overlap in an intense composition, where the material reveals and conceals at the same time.
The work explores what lies behind appearance: thoughts, fragility and parts of oneself that evade definition.
**Why not everything we are is visible on the surface.**
* Shipping and presentation:
The work will be shipped without a frame, rolled carefully on a tube to ensure maximum safety during transport. It can be framed or mounted on a frame at the collector's discretion.
* Original piece signed by the artist, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
This work is created on canvas without a frame and is shipped rolled to ensure maximum safety during transport.
ATTENTION:
*The canvas is not treated with plaster or primer, so it is a raw and natural material.
*It should not be stretched too tightly during mounting to avoid alterations of texture and the rendering of natural pigments.
*Do not use the stretcher bar, as it could compromise the stability of the work.
*It is advised to rely on an expert framer for optimal mounting.
Made on a raw canvas that enhances the materiality of the work, this piece unites figurative art with the expressive gesture of the abstract, evoking emotion and introspection.
SERENA GRASSETTI — CONTEMPORARY ARTIST
Serena Grassetti is an Italian contemporary artist whose research investigates the complexity of being human, exploring identity, memory, fragility and inner transformation through a personal and multidisciplinary artistic language.
Daughter of art, trained at the Istituto d’Arte of Macerata, she has developed over the years a deep knowledge of the material and its expressive possibilities, experimenting with painting, sculpture, modeling, resins, charcoal and techniques related to Natural Art. This experience forms the foundation of a practice in which the material is not merely support, but an integral part of the meaning of the work.
At the center of her research is the body understood as psychological and symbolic space: a presence capable of manifesting what words cannot express. Through incomplete figures, gestures loaded with tension and forms that oscillate between presence and dissolution, Grassetti gives visual substance to the deepest states of the human experience.
Her work sits within the international dialogue of sculpture and contemporary figurative art, in thematic relation to the research of Rabarama, Berlinde De Bruyckere and Xiang Jing, while the comparison with Andy Warhol, Banksy and KAWS opens a reflection on the different modalities through which contemporary art interprets identity and the human condition.
With works presented in exhibition contexts in Italy and abroad, Serena Grassetti develops a research aimed at overcoming superficial representation to reach a more intimate and universal dimension. Her poetics are founded on a core principle: to give shape to what is not seen, but which profoundly determines what we are.
