The “leitprofil” (guiding profile) for the explanation of my images can best be described in numerous pictures as a deliberate rejection of linguistic definitions. For PöP, talking about art is often difficult or even “pointless,” since painting, for him, represents an independent form of thought that goes beyond what can be said.

He sees painting as a process that begins where language ends. He believes that one can only put into words what words can express – painting has nothing to do with that.

In summary: My guiding profile is the openness of the image. For him, a picture must be able to stand on its own without external explanation, because every interpretation would merely constrain the image.

An abstract image by Peter Pölzl no longer looks like a likeness of reality, but like a battlefield of colors and layers. There are no recognizable objects, figures, or landscapes anymore.
