Sculpture by Hans Meeuwsen, titled 2026-87 vierkant, made in porcelain with a flax porcelain from Scarva, oak oxidering fired at 1240 C, measuring 140 mm high, 140 mm wide and 87 mm deep, originating from the Netherlands and dated to the 2026 period, in excellent condition and partly glazed with two signatures including Raku and Yakimono in Japanese characters.
Description from the seller
This artwork is part of a series in which the artist investigates the deformation of porcelain during the firing process. The originally straight strips of the square have warped due to the heat of firing.
The artwork is made of porcelain, oxidation-fired at 1240°C. The wall thickness is about one millimeter, which results in some transparency in the porcelain. The work is partially glazed with a transparent glaze.
The piece is signed with two applications: the first bearing the given name and the first letter of the surname, and the second bearing the Japanese characters Raku and Yakimono.
