Description from the seller
Beautiful and rare antique vase in iconic Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) style, manufactured in Bohemia around 1900. This high-quality piece of glass art immediately stands out for its intense, metallic iridescent glaze (the so-called oil-slick or luster effect). Depending on the light, the color shifts from deep purple and magenta at the top to warm gold, bronze and green tones at the base. The vase has an elegant, organic form with a tapered neck and a wide, rounded base, featuring a subtle vertical relief texture in the glass. This type of refined glasswork and this specific model are attributed in the antiques world to, or strongly associated with, leading Bohemian glass studios from that period, such as Wilhelm Kralik Söhne. Pieces with this form were at the time used both as decorative vases and for mounting exclusive oil lamps or early electric lamp bases. Size: 11.8 cm high with a bottom diameter of 8.5 cm and a top diameter of 3.2 cm. Weight: 167 grams. Color: purple, gold, bronze and green metallic. Carefully packaged, registered and insured shipping. Not shipped to the United States.
