Romain Olive - vision

Figurative work rendered on paper, depicting a set of tightly interwoven faces and human figures. The drawing is built around pronounced black outlines, simplified shapes, and a treatment of material that reveals the traces of gesture. The palette mainly combines yellow, violet, red, gray, and black.
The dense composition stacks the figures and expressions, creating an impression of closeness and tension. The gazes, often directed outward, and the faces with accentuated features give the whole an expressive dimension. The graphic treatment favors contrast, the spontaneity of line, and the layering of colors.
