Mila Veljaca, Selbstbewusst, oil on wood panel with frame, 92 × 70 cm, 2024, original, signed contemporary portrait depicting a poised figure.
Description from the seller
Confident
92 x 70 cm
Oil on wooden panel including frame
A figure sits with hands folded and looks straight ahead. Her posture is calm, almost restrained, yet her gaze carries a certain resolve.
Cool blue and turquoise tones define the face and hands. Red lines trace the clothing and stand in vivid contrast to the light, partially translucent color surfaces. The visible painting ground and the open brushstrokes give the portrait a special immediacy.
I am interested in people who tell something through their posture and their gaze without saying a word. Is this woman confident, skeptical, or simply attentive? Maybe a bit of all of it.
A contemporary, expressive portrait about personality, presence, and the many facets of a person.

About me:
"My painting operates on the border between figuration and abstraction – a tense dialogue of expressive gesture, intense color worlds, and intuitive dynamics.
Inspired by the energy of abstract expressionism, which moves between body and dissolution, chaos and harmony."
Each work is a process of questioning and rediscovery:
Lines break through surfaces.
Figures appear and disappear.
An emotionally charged dance between control and release.
Mila Veljac’a is an visual artist of Croatian origin. She studied at art academies in Croatia, Vienna, Salzburg and Stuttgart and spent several years sharing her expertise as a lecturer for visual arts.
