Description from the seller
An impressive, large, and powerful sculpture of a sweating worker/porter, created by the renowned Belgian sculptor Victor Joseph Ghislain Demanet (1895-1964).
This expressive work is executed in high-quality solid bronze and features a beautiful, warm dark patina. Demanet was internationally known for his socially realistic monuments and sculptures in which he—following the tradition of Constantin Meunier—masterfully captured the glory and the heaviness of human labor.
The anatomy, musculature, and the dynamism of physical effort are fabulously detailed in this bronze sculpture. The statue stands on its original rock base and is mounted on a sleek, heavy marble plinth.
