Description from the seller
Alfredo Grimaldi – “Il porto delle rose” – 40×50 cm
A village facing the water reveals itself through a lively succession of yellow, pink, white and red houses, gathered around a small harbor. The buildings, distributed on different levels, form a luminous mosaic in which the dark windows and the profiles of the roofs mark the rhythm of the view. The vegetation insinuates itself among the buildings with deep greens and fuchsia accents, suggesting a lush and sunny Mediterranean landscape.
In the basin, the boats and the masts introduce slender vertical lines, while the sea comes alive with blue, azure and white brushstrokes. A small green boat in the foreground emerges among the reflections, offering a resting point for the eye. The roses on the left edge and the flowers crossing the lower part bring the observer closer to the scene, as if the view were contemplated from a garden on the shore.
The painting, entrusted to vigorous strokes and strong chromatic contrasts, returns the movement of light and a joyful atmosphere of coastal calm.
