« Architecture Impossible », 2007

Signed and dated bottom right « .kesta.07. », monogrammed bottom left « J.P.K. »
Frame: produced by the artist in plastic (simple grey-blue frame)
Condition: chips and signs of wear visible (see photos); the piece remains remarkable, with a strong presence and an intact composition.
Description
Large XXL geometric abstract composition, which unfolds a true impossible architecture. On an intense, vibrant blue background, interlocking volumes – towers, arches, corridors, slanted planes and cantilevered structures – cross each other in a clever play of contradictory perspectives and cast shadows.
The saturated colors (pink, golden yellow, turquoise, off-white, charcoal, green) structure the space and emphasize the relief and depth effect. Black lines trace and rhythm the whole, creating a strong optical sensation, both labyrinthine and metaphysical.
The work evokes Escher-like constructions as well as Op Art and a futuristic city or a mental architectural complex.
The brushwork remains visible, the flat areas are matte and dense. A powerful, decorative and intellectually stimulating piece, ideal for a large wall.
Biography
Former student of the École Boulle and the Decorative Arts, Jean-Louis Dhuit was a set designer at ORTF before settling in Étagnon, near Ambert (Puy-de-Dôme).
Under the name Kesta, he develops a personal oeuvre where geometric and optical abstraction plays a central role, alongside gestural series, landscapes and figures. Regular exhibitions in the Livradois.
