- Mediterranean Light – The Garden Facing the Sea
Tony Binder (1868–1944)
Anton “Tony” Binder, Austrian painter and illustrator born in Vienna, is best known for his Orientalist and Mediterranean marine scenes. Trained in Vienna and Munich, he spent a long period in Egypt from the 1890s and also travelled across Europe and the Mediterranean basin.
A very beautiful maritime landscape by Tony Binder, bright and refreshing. The vegetation frames a calm sea, in a balanced composition with free and generous brushstrokes.
An especially appealing work for the richness of its material, the spontaneity of the touch, and its fine balance between nature and the marine horizon.
