Two 0.75 L bottles: Château Pontet-Canet 1970 and Château Kirwan 1981.
Description from the seller
This lot of fine Bordeaux wines features two bottles from the Left Bank, coming from prestigious classifications and appellations of the Médoc. The first bottle is a Château Pontet - Canet vintage 1970, a distinguished Pauillac Fifth Growth from the historic 1855 classification, here bottled by the Cruse merchant house. The second bottle is a Château Kirwan vintage 1981, a Margaux Third Growth from the same 1855 official classification, produced by Schröder & Schÿler. Traditionally crafted from a typical Médoc blend where cabernet sauvignon drives structure and longevity alongside merlot, these two bottles offer a beautiful expression of mature gravelly terroirs. Each standard format bottle has a height of 30,5 cm and a unit weight of 1300 g, representing a combined total weight for the lot of 2600 g on the scale. Regarding the condition, the bottles bear witness to authentic long - term cellar aging. The Château Pontet - Canet 1970 bottle features glass covered in a layer of patinated cellar dust, with an intact original label showing widespread moisture stains and natural yellowing consistent with age, while its original red capsule with its tax stamp remains firmly in place. The Château Kirwan 1981 bottle also shows cellar dust, a clean and sound white label despite minor signs of time and a vintage handwritten price tag on the shoulder, along with an intact gold capsule. The fill levels are particularly remarkable for wines of this age, both perfectly situated at the base of the neck / high shoulder level, which guarantees well - preserved corks over the decades. Shipping is exclusively reserved for mainland European Union member countries, and no delivery can be guaranteed to island destinations or overseas territories.
