Description from the seller

Grand Majolica Centerpiece on a pedestal - Gerbing & Stephan - Bodenbach, c. 1885
Refined and monumental centerpiece (pedestal) in fine maiolica, produced by the renowned Austrian/Czech manufactory Gerbing & Stephan (Bodenbach) in the second half of the 19th century (circa 1880-1890).
The object is characterized by a rich high-relief decoration in a historicist/Neo-Renaissance taste, typical of the factory's high-end production. At the center stands a finely painted medallion with a small bird on a flowering branch. The sides feature spectacular undulating handles with zoomorphic details and a shell-shaped upper cornice.
Under the base are clearly impressed the authenticity marks:
• Factory monogram: G. & St.
• Model/shape number: 4731
• Circular guarantee stamp.
