Wine table in wood, dating from 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Wine Table / Tripod Plant Stand in a Classic Style – Turned Wood, 20th Century
Elegant and slender wine table (also known as a wine table or guéridon), inspired by the classic models of English and continental ebony tradition. The piece features a circular top with a slightly raised and molded edge, supported by a refined central turned shaft. Stability is guaranteed by a classic three-leg tripod base.
A constructional peculiarity of this specimen lies in the upper top, which is completely removable as it is equipped with a direct screwing system via a wooden threaded pin into the central shaft. Thanks to its compact dimensions and extreme lightness, it represents a versatile piece of furniture, ideal as a support for glasses, small collectible objects, or as an elegant plant stand.
• Type: Wine Table / Guéridon / Plant Stand
• Style: Classic / Late Victorian
• Era: 20th Century
• Material: Solid wood (finishes in walnut / mahogany tone)
• Height: 61.5 cm
• Top diameter: 32 cm
• Weight: approximately 1,700 g (1.7 kg)
The table presents in good overall aesthetic condition, with the upper top intact. Structurally it requires a small and simple conservation intervention at the bottom, typical of the material and age:
• The circular top and the related wooden screwing pin are in excellent condition.
• A crack is noted at the terminal block of the central shaft, exactly at the point where the three tripod feet were inserted and glued (as visible in the detail photos).
• The joint shows slight play and residues of old glue, easily repairable with tightening and a new gluing.
