Oil on canvas by Loren Artemis (XX-XXI), titled Il custode dell’orizzonte, 50 × 35 cm, Italy, signed by hand, original edition from the 2020s, in a Modern style; a black cat sits on a stone edge overlooking the sea as a sailing boat crosses the water.
Description from the seller
Artist: Loren Artemis
Technique: Oil on canvas
Dimensions: 50x35 cm
Title: The Keeper of the Horizon
A black cat, perched on a edge of stone overlooking the sea, watches a sailboat crossing the water. Its dark silhouette, gathered and still, occupies the foreground on the right and introduces a silent presence into the view. The extended tail and the shape of the ears define with few elements a vigilant pose, turned toward the vastness of the horizon.
The sea dominates the composition with a succession of deep blues and turquoises, crossed by light brushstrokes that suggest reflections and small movements of the surface. The ivory-colored sails emerge against the blue background, while a luminous trail under the boat accompanies its slow passage. The sky, pale and slightly veiled, expands the sense of openness.
The side column and the stones marked by cracks build a threshold between the near space and the far space. The contrast between the solidity of the shore and the mobility of the water gives the work a contemplative character: a scene in which the simple act of watching becomes waiting, quiet, and imagination.
