Case Model "Full Hunter" with Engraved Landscape and Aesthetic Details
• Case style and decoration: Exquisite Full Hunter model case (closed lid) richly decorated. The front cover features a splendid and detailed hand-engraved depiction of a rural landscape with a characteristic little house, elegantly set among rich swirls and floral motifs. The perimetral case band is characterized by a refined anti-slip ribbed/faceted finish.
• Snap mechanism: The front protective cover for the dial opens smoothly by pressing the button located on the upper crown. The hinges are stable and free of play.
• Internal finish: The interior of the rear covers and the dust guard presents a prestigious galvanic gilded protective finish original to the era (gilding), designed to defend the mechanism from dust and moisture. The external metal is bright silver/nickel in color.
• Coevality: The covers bear the numeric assay mark of the case assembly 183, testifying to absolute contemporaneity, originality, and integrity of all external parts produced together in the factory.
• Dial: Perfectly protected by the openable cover, the dial is original white enamel and remains in excellent condition, free of hairlines, cracks, or chipping. It features large black Roman numerals for the hours and an outer railroad-track minute scale. The small seconds counter is positioned at 6 o'clock.
• Signature: The dial bears the prestigious period cursive signature "American Waltham Watch Co.".
• Hands: Refined and slender darkened hands in a lotus/pear style, original and typical of the period.
Manufacturer: American Waltham Watch Co. (Waltham, Massachusetts, USA).
• Movement Serial Number: 7868370 (Production lot approved in 1896).
• Model: Model 1883 (one of the most robust, famous, and long-lived hand-wound mechanics of the manufactory).
• Size: Size 18s (the classic, solid, and sturdy men’s size of the era).
• Technical features: Movement with 3/4 plate finely decorated with damascated wave patterns. Equipped with lever escapement and the famous safety pinion patented to protect gear trains from sudden mainspring breakages.
• Time setting: Professional safety lever setting system (Lever-Setting) for setting the time. To move the hands, you must open the cover and extract the small metal tab located on the dial between 4 and 5 o'clock. This safety mechanism (derived from American railway standards) prevents accidental time adjustment with the case closed. The system operates smoothly."
