Description from the seller

About the series "Galaxy Stamp"

In Galaxy Stamp, Kobalt invents a language that no one speaks — not even him. An unlikely blend of zero-gravity Cyrillic and Martian calligraphy vaguely Asian, this writing is supposed to be the most spoken in the neighboring galaxies… No point trying to translate it: it says nothing, yet it says it beautifully. A cosmic wink to a communication from very, very far away — or just from another imagination.

Biography:

Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymath artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a designer, Kobalt discovers very early his first passion, music creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: to invest the money meant to fund his higher education into creating his first album.

Distributed by EMI, the album does not meet the expected success, but it marks the beginning of an artistic career rich in experimentation.

Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt enters the advertising world as a designer/writer for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he channels his creativity into the publication, creating and producing the magazine’s campaigns.

The turning point of his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cameraman, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.

In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.

His artistic approach is marked by the bold use of humor, provocation and anachronisms, with a particular penchant for remixing magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.

Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay off social media, preserving a certain intimacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to give life to his creations, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation and humor.
