The Historic Meeting – Paris, 9 June 2016
On 9 June 2016, just one day before the beginning of UEFA EURO 2016, Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot organised a special charity football event at the Palais Royal in Paris.
The event brought together two legendary football icons whose names had been compared and debated for decades.
Maradona and Pelé, often considered among the greatest players in football history, had experienced a well-publicised rivalry over the years.

Two Immortal Football Legends
Pelé – The King of Football
The legendary Brazilian footballer remains the only player in history to have won three FIFA World Cups, in 1958, 1962 and 1970.
His extraordinary career with Santos FC and the Brazilian national team made him one of the most celebrated sportsmen of all time.
Diego Armando Maradona – The Argentine Genius
Maradona inspired Argentina to victory at the 1986 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
His extraordinary technical ability, creativity and unforgettable performances with SSC Napoli, FC Barcelona and Argentina established him as one of the greatest footballers ever to play the game.
Together, Maradona and Pelé represent two extraordinary generations of football greatness.
The Hublot Match of Friendship
The special event was organised in connection with UEFA EURO 2016.
Both legends coached teams featuring former international football stars.
Among the famous participants were David Trezeguet, Hernán Crespo, Bebeto, Fernando Hierro, Dida and Marco Materazzi.
The exhibition match celebrated football, friendship and international sporting unity.
