Condition Report
Grade B – Good vintage condition, with signs of wear consistent with age.
The gold-plated case shows surface scratches, small marks and localised wear to the plating, particularly around the edges and lugs. The stainless-steel case back presents scratches consistent with use. The silver dial displays spotting and uneven age-related discolouration, while the applied markers and hands also show patina. The acrylic crystal presents surface marks, and the fitted leather strap shows signs of wear. Please examine the photographs carefully, as they form an essential part of the condition description.
The watch’s water resistance has not been tested. Contact with water should therefore be avoided.
Story & Heritage
Roamer’s history traces back to Fritz Meyer’s watchmaking workshop, founded in Solothurn, Switzerland, in 1888. The business later developed under the Meyer & Stüdeli name before becoming Roamer Watch Co., forming part of the town’s longstanding watchmaking heritage.
This vintage example captures the appeal of the traditional Swiss dress watch through a restrained circular case and carefully balanced dial. Its Calatrava-style aesthetic places emphasis on proportion and simplicity, allowing the decorative hour markers and faceted hands to provide the visual character.
The small-seconds display at 6 o’clock is particularly attractive. Its simple crosshair design introduces a quiet geometric detail, complementing the dotted outer minute track without overcrowding the dial. The warm case finish and softly aged silver background give the watch a cohesive vintage appearance.
Within its compact 33 mm case, the mechanical movement preserves the fascination of traditional timekeeping. Paired with a brown leather strap, this Roamer offers an appealing combination of Swiss heritage, distinctive dial details and the understated elegance of an earlier generation of wristwatches.
