Description from the seller
SAMIA KERKENI — VERDANT EMBRACE — 2024
Unique Textured Acrylic Painting — Botanical Abstraction Series
Verdant Embrace is a unique original painting by contemporary artist Samia Kerkeni, exploring the relationship between organic movement, colour, matter and emotion.
At the centre of the composition, sweeping green forms twist, overlap and converge in a fluid movement reminiscent of leaves carried by an invisible current. Sage green, deep botanical tones and luminous white interact with a delicate blush-pink ground crossed by gestures of mauve and burgundy.
At the point where these forms meet, the subtle silhouette of a heart begins to emerge.
The image is never imposed literally. It reveals itself progressively through the movement of the composition, transforming the work into a meditation on growth, connection and the invisible forces that draw living forms together.
From a distance, Verdant Embrace possesses an immediate botanical energy. At closer range, the viewer discovers variations in texture, layered colour and the physical traces of the artist’s gesture.
MATERIAL AND TEXTURE
Created with acrylic and textured acrylic on canvas, the painting combines broad, fluid gestures with visible variations in matter and surface.
Kerkeni works through successive layers and movements, allowing pigment, texture and gesture to remain present within the finished composition. The different shades of green create vitality and depth, while the pale atmospheric background brings softness and visual balance.
The work moves between abstraction and recognition. It does not depict nature literally, but translates its rhythms, structures and emotional energy into colour and movement.
Entirely created by hand, Verdant Embrace is a unique original artwork—not a print, reproduction or edition.
THE ARTIST
Born in 1980, Samia Kerkeni is a contemporary artist, doctor and researcher whose practice explores matter, colour, movement and light.
Her research background brings a spirit of observation and continuous experimentation to her artistic work. Inspired by natural forces, organic structures and invisible currents, she creates compositions in which abstraction remains deeply connected to sensations found in the natural world.
Rather than reproducing nature, Kerkeni translates its energy into gesture, texture and chromatic relationships. Verdant Embrace belongs to her Botanical Abstraction series, in which organic forms become vehicles for exploring transformation, harmony, vitality and emotional connection.
Her work is represented internationally by Abstract Art Gallery, Riga, Latvia.
