Le Yack - Midi chez les Kaufman - Hand signed - XL

A modernist villa with sliding glass doors, a flat roof that overhangs, Washingtonia palms standing against the desert mountain. In the center of the turquoise pool, in a lemon-yellow buoy, a polar bear. It does nothing: it floats, paws resting on the tube, and looks at us with the calm of someone who has booked. Le Yack places the ice-cream animal in the middle of Palm Springs' postcard and lets the absurdity run its course. The whiteness of the fur matches the whiteness of the walls; the yellow of the buoy is the only warm accent in a range of blues and whites. The subject is funny at first glance, then a little less so — the bear has no ice floe left, it has a pool. Material vibrant across the surface: water worked in small broken brushstrokes that glitter, sky brushed into swirls, rocks and agaves in short brushstrokes. The mountain is treated in scales of gray and mauve, in the manner of Californian landscape painters. (The interior visual is an AI visualization, provided for guidance.)
