Description from the seller
168 VOLUMI:
Splendid and rare collection of the historic magazine of fashion, politics and culture "Il Borghese", founded by Leo Longanesi in 1950.
The lot consists of complete yearly volumes, from 1950 to 1958 and from 1989 to 1997, each finely bound in hard covers that have preserved its integrity over time.
It represents a cultural and social testimony of the conservative right and of Italian intellectualism in the postwar period.
An unmissable collectible for historians, journalists and enthusiasts of 20th-century publishing.
Physical Characteristics and Condition
Binding:
Hard cover with cloth (or half leather/board) with gold titles impressed on the spine.
Good overall condition. The inner pages are perfectly legible, with no tears, writings or cutouts. Signs of time: Slight and natural yellowing of the paper and foxing, which confer the lot the typical charm of period publications. Integrity: Each volume collects all issues published in the reference year, complete with original covers from the era.
Inside the volumes are found the signatures of the greatest Italian intellectuals, journalists and illustrators of the last century, including:
Leo Longanesi (founder)
Mario Tedeschi (historic director)
Indro Montanelli
Giovanni Ansaldo
Giuseppe Prezzolini
The magazine is distinguished by its sharp satirical style, the famous political cartoons, the fashion columns and the controversial investigations that marked the First Republic
