Description from the seller
Antique Russian silver Wodka cup (Charka)
DESCRIPTION:
Offering a rare, authentic Russian silver miniature cup, also known as a Charka (vodka cup), originating from the late Tsarist era of the Russian Empire.
This elegant piece is crafted in a clean, early modernist style that beautifully reflects the transition between late Art Nouveau and early Art Deco.
The cup is characterized by a slim conical form with a geometrically designed, linear handle. On the front (gilded) there is a refined, engraved decoration.
Features and Hallmarks:
Silver content: Assayed as 84 zolotniks (84 zolotniks), which corresponds to a high silver purity of 87.5% pure silver (.875).
Master mark: Elegantly stamped with Cyrillic initials AC (Latin transliteration: A.S.), most likely attributed to the well-known silversmith Alexander Skvortsov (Александр Скворцов) of Moscow, whose workshop was renowned for fine dinnerware and silverware up to 1917.
Assay mark: The official Kokoshnik mark in an oval shield with the right-facing female head. This type of mark was used exclusively between 1908 and 1917/1926, dating the cup precisely to the late Tsarist era under Nicholas II.
Specifications:
Object: Vodka cup / Czarka
Material: Solid silver (.875)
Country of origin: Russia (Tsarist era, Moscow)
Period: 1908–1917
Condition report:
In good, original antique condition with a handsome, authentic dark patina. Not polished to preserve historical integrity. No structural defects or major dents.
Silver content: 875/1000 (84 zolotniks)
