Story & Heritage
The Eterna-Matic name represents an important development in automatic watchmaking. In 1948, Eterna introduced a rotor supported by a miniature bearing with five balls, reducing friction in the automatic winding system. Those five balls became the inspiration for the brand’s distinctive emblem, visible on this watch’s dial. Eterna celebrates 160 years
Comparable steel Eterna-Matic watches with silver dials, date displays and approximately 33 mm cases are catalogued as dating from the 1960s, supporting the estimated period of this example. auction online Catawiki
This piece combines that technical heritage with restrained design. Its compact case, applied markers and neatly framed date display create a versatile appearance, while the five-dot emblem provides a recognisable connection to
Eterna’s contribution to self-winding watch technology. A refined vintage piece for collectors of Eterna, classic automatic watches and understated Swiss design.
