Description from the seller

RARE VINTAGE KEINER WETZLAR 8x25 LEICHTGLAS BINOCULARS – c. 1930s–1940s – ORIGINAL LEATHER CASE
Rare and exceptionally well-preserved Keiner Wetzlar Leichtglas 8x25 German binoculars, believed to date from approximately the 1930s–1940s.
This is not being represented as a documented military binocular.
A beautifully compact early German Porro-prism binocular, supplied with its original brown leather carrying case. Its remarkably small size makes it an especially attractive example of early compact German optical design.
Despite its compact dimensions, the binocular provides a surprisingly clear, sharp and well-defined image. The optical lenses are in excellent condition and the viewing quality is particularly impressive for a binocular of this age and size.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Keiner Wetzlar belongs to the tradition of German optical manufacturers and retailers associated with Wetzlar, one of Germany's historic centres of precision optical production.
Wetzlar became internationally renowned for precision optics, and a number of important German optical companies and workshops operated there. The city is particularly associated with the development and manufacture of high-quality optical instruments during the first half of the 20th century.
Keiner produced and marketed a range of compact German binoculars, including Leichtglas / ExtraLeicht models designed to provide useful magnification while keeping the instrument unusually small and portable.
A closely related Keiner Wetzlar 8x30 ExtraLeicht is documented by a specialist collector and tentatively dated to the 1930s, with the collector noting that Hartmann Optik supplied lenses to Keiner during this period. The compact design and construction of these early Keiner binoculars make them particularly interesting to collectors of historical German optical equipment.
The present 8x25 Leichtglas is an especially compact example. Its small dimensions, original leather case and excellent optical condition make it an attractive piece for collectors of early German binoculars and vintage precision instruments.
A NOTE ON DATING
The binocular is believed to date from approximately the 1930s–1940s, based on its construction, compact early design and comparison with documented examples of Keiner Wetzlar binoculars.
An exact production year has not been established, therefore the date is given as an informed approximate period rather than a definitive manufacturing date.
This is not being represented as a documented military or WWII-issue binocular.
A RARE COLLECTOR'S PIECE
A particularly attractive example of early German optical craftsmanship: small, lightweight, beautifully made and still optically impressive after many decades.
Complete with its original leather case, this is an excellent addition to a collection of early German optics, vintage binoculars, scientific instruments or historical optical equipment.
