Description from the seller
Besson Stratford – long cornet / B-flat trumpet-cornet – Made in England – vintage 1960s
Old wind instrument signed Besson Stratford, made in England.
This is a special model of a long B-flat cornet, also often presented as a long cornet or trumpet-cornet. Its elongated shape visually resembles a trumpet, while retaining the design and sound of a cornet.
The Stratford range was marketed by Besson as an intermediate-price line. Historical documents confirm that Stratford models were made in England and that a Stratford cornet of this generation had a bore of approximately 0.460” / 11.68 mm.
The instrument features a beautiful satin/matte silver finish, typical of some Stratford models from this period. This finish is also reported on known 1960s examples.
