AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

With frame
33x39cm

Without frame:
24x29cm

The painting depicts a nineteenth-century landscape view with a waterfall, a subject typical of the European vedutismo tradition and of painters tied to the stages of the Grand Tour in Italy.
From the visual analysis of the composition, the style strongly recalls the historical representations of famous Italian natural destinations greatly loved by 19th-century artists, in particular: the Falls of Tivoli in the Roman countryside and the Cascata delle Marmore near Terni.
This kind of period paintings was often produced by masters of the Italian school or by foreign artists (such as the English Victorian school or German and French painters living in Rome) fascinated by lush nature and by the Apennine waterfalls. The work is enclosed in a sumptuous gilded frame with convex motifs contemporary to or in the style of the period, which enhances its perspectival depth.
