This Italian antique Médici crater vase in porcelain, dating from 1890–1910, is richly gilt and hand-painted with an outdoor courtship scene, and measures 43 cm high by 23.5 cm wide and deep.
Description from the seller
Impressive and refined porcelain vase of Médicis/crater shape dating from the 19th century, with rich gilding and high-quality finishes.
Antique monogram: The bisque base before firing clearly shows the period engraving with the letters "NS" monogrammed, a mark attributable to the studios/decorators active in the second half of the 19th century (Doccia/Ginori or manufactories of Vieux Paris).
Decoration: It features a wide central reserve finely hand-painted depicting an outdoor gallant scene with a dandy, a lady and a lapdog. The gilding is enriched by elegant floral motifs incised with graphite on the surfaces and on the faces of the plinth.
CONDITIONS
Good overall conservational condition for its age.
Gilding: Shows the usual natural time wear of gilding at the edges that protrude and on the base, revealing the white porcelain underneath and giving a charming patina of age.
Porcelain and construction: Body intact, free from cracks or major chips on the cup and the base. Retains the period metal fixing pin beneath the base.
